LUBBOCK, Texas (September 19, 2026) — Lubbock Christian returned to the win column with a 4-0 against Sul Ross State on Saturday at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex. The Chaps recorded a shutout and finished with an 18-8 shot advantage, including 10-2 in shots on goal.

The Chaps wrap up non-conference play with a 3-3-1 record, while the Lobos suffered their sixth-straight loss to start the season 

The Chaps opened with attacking pressure, earning a corner in the fourth minute and getting shots from Joao Catafesta and DePaula in the first 13 minutes of action. Milo Paci kept the Lobos off the board with a save on Romain Bricier in the 20th minute, and the Chaps answered with another sustained push later in the half. 

Aron DePaula, Adam Davison and Lucas Carli each forced saves from Fernando Hernandez between the 35th and 38th minutes before the Chaps finally broke through with less than five minutes before the break. A foul in the 18-yard box by the Lobos allowed DePaula a chance from the spot in the 42nd minute and the captain converted, giving the home team a lead they would not relinquish. 

The Chaps added three goals in the second half, turning their 1-0 advantage into a 4-0 final score. They generated steady pressure with four corner kicks in the first 15 minutes of the half and shots from Augusto Militao, Alex Lachevre and Jack Brassey, with Lachevre forcing two saves.

In the 63rd minute, Junior Lopez hit the top woodwork and RJ Rodriguez collected the rebound and scored to double the LCU lead. The Chaps added another goal in the 71st minute when Lachevre sent a cross into the box that was misplayed. 

After Paci saved Leo Sanchez's shot in the 73rd minute, DePaula finished a Joao Catafesta assist in the 79th minute, and the Chaps closed out the shutout.

GAME NOTES:
- The Chaps recorded their second shutout of the season, lowering their season goals against average to 1.14, which ranks fifth in the Lone Star Conference
- This was the Chaps' first-ever win against the Lobos in an all-time series that began in 2024. They are now 1-2-1 against the Lobos
- Aron Depaula's brace marks the first time a Chaparral has had multiple goals in a single match since Sept. 6, 2025, when Pedro Lucas scored twice at Adams State
- The Chaps matched their season high by drawing eight corner kicks. The last time they had more than eight corner kicks in a single match was Sept. 20, 2025, when they had 12 in a match also against the Lobos
- RJ Rodriguez's goal was the first of his collegiate career and made him the eighth different Chaparral to find the back of the net this season
