CHAPARRAL HEADERS

• Lubbock Christian University will play their first home conference game of the season at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, taking on St. Edward's at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex
• LCU midfielder Joao Catafesta scored his second goal of the season on Wednesday against St. Mary's, becoming the fourth different Chap with multiple goals this season
• SEU's only win so far this season came at Cal. State Dominguez Hills in the second game of the season, and they have lost each of their last three matches
• LCU junior midfielder Aron DePaula assisted Catafesta's goal against the Rattlers and now has five points in the last two games for the Chaps
• Lubbock Christian's beat St. Edward's twice last season, including a win in the LSC Tournament semifinal match that sent them to the championship game

 
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
Lubbock Christian lost a lot from their 2025 LSC runner-up team, which means the 2026 edition of the Chaps have been relying on a number of newcomers. Of the five LCU players who have started all eight games so far this year, three – goalkeeper Milo Paci, defender Max Moorahrend and midfielder Alex Lachevre – are brand new to LCU. The Chaparral leader in shots with 19 – forward Oli Robinson – is also new, and the Chaps have also relied heavily on newcomers Finn Wijnen, Tom Unwin and Jackson Preece.
 
WHERE THE HEART IS
The Chaps are 3-1-1 at home so far this year and with wins against Adams State, Newman and Sul Ross. This weekend's match is the sixth of 10 home matches for LCU this season. They have not posted more wins than losses in Lubbock since the 2022 campaign, when they were 4-2-3. The LCU Soccer & Track Complex was completed in August of 2020 and features an AstroTurf playing surface, a Musco lighting system to allow for night games and stadium seating for 500 fans. LCU's men have an all-time record of 64-42-22 in home games. The best season at home was just their second in existence, as they went 8-1-1 in 2011.
 
OFFENSIVE OUTPUT
After scoring once against St. Mary's, the Chaps now have a scoring average of 1.625 in 2026, which is the fourth-best mark in the LSC. They have only been shut out once, and that was in a game where they played with 10 men for 80 minutes. LCU is averaging 13.3 shots per game and has put 43.4 percent of those on goal. Eight different players have found the back of the net so far this year, including four players with two goals each. Alex Lachevre and Augusto Militao co-lead the team in assists with two each. Robinson is currently fifth in the LSC in shots with 19 and has scored once.
 
IN THEIR DEFENSE
Lubbock Christian opponents are averaging 1.50 goals per game through the first eight contests of the year. LCU's defense has allowed 10.9 shots per game from competitors and 46.0 percent of those have been on goal. They have notched a pair of shutouts – against Adams State and Sul Ross. Moorahrend has anchored the back line from the center back position, leading the team with 608 minutes played.
 
HE'S A KEEPER
Chap keeper Milo Paci has more than played his part in LCU's defensive success so far. The Frenchman has a save percentage of .707 after Wednesday's match against St. Edward's. Paci has faced 89 shots this season in 708 minutes of action, posting a goals against average of 1.50 with 29 total saves, three of which came earlier this week. He is no stranger to LSC competition, starting his career at Eastern New Mexico before the Greyhound program disbanded. Paci was named the LSC Goalkeeper of the Week for week three of the season.
 
FAIR OR FOUL
Lubbock Christian is tied for the third-fewest yellow cards per game in the Lone Star Conference at just 1.50. They have just 12 total yellows so far this season, and only two players have recorded multiple bookings. Conversely, the Chaps have been called for the fourth-most fouls per game in the league at 11.63 per contest. They have been called for a season-low eight fouls three different times, in the games against Fort Lewis, MSU Denver and Newman and had a season-high 20 fouls against Adams State.
 
SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS

• St. Edward's has split time between two goalkeepers, with Eddie Alonzi playing four games and Kaleo Perez-Francis taking three contests and earning the only shutout of the season so far
• SEU's scoring average of 1.167 is the third-worst in the Lone Star Conference behind only West Texas A&M and Sul Ross, who has still not scored a goal yet this season
• Bartek Zabek and Misael Rangel co-lead the Hilltoppers with two goals apiece, and only three other players have scored this year
• Head coach Brian Young is in his 20^th season coaching the Hilltoppers. He is the winningest coach in program history and is a member of the Heartland Conference Hall of Fame
• SEU is allowing an average of 1.67 goals per game, which is the third-worst mark in the LSC
