Biography

2020-21
Muhammad appeared in 19 games but only twice as a starter. Still, the sophomore averaged 21.3 minutes per game and was so impressive as a substitute that he was named the Lone Star Conference Sixth Man of the Year at the end of the regular season. Muhammad scored 9.3 points per game and pulled down 1.8 rebounds while collecting 34 total assists and 13 total steals. He set a new career high with 10 points on 1/22 against Texas A&M International and then matched it twice later in the season (2/6, 2/19). In the Feb. 19 game, he scored 12 of his 19 points in one five-minute span, leading the Chaps to a win over UT Permian Basin.

2019-20
As a freshman, Muhammad played in all 29 games for the Chaps, albeit coming off the bench every time. He still managed to average 21.4 minutes of playing time and 7.0 points per contest as an important sixth man. The New Mexico native shot 39.9 percent from the floor (73-183), including 20 three-pointers. A strong defender, Muhammad also produced 31 steals, which was the second-most on the team behind only Cameron Copley, who played 34 minutes a game. His best game of the season came at a crucial time as he scored 14 second-half points (17 overall) in LCU's come-from-behind win against Midwestern State in the first round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament. Muhammad was named to the LSC's All-Freshman Team for his performance during the season.

Prior to LCU
Muhammad earned a number of accolades during his high school career. He was an Honorable Mention All-District selection in 2017 before earning a spot on the All-District First Team in 2018 and 2019. In 2018 he was also named to the All-Metro Second Team and All-State Second Team while helping his team become the 6A State Runner Up. In 2019 He was First Team All-Metro and First Team All-State while being named the Most Valuable Player at Cleveland Hig School. Muhammad was also an accomplished field athlete, setting school records in the long jump and triple jump and winning a pair of track and field team state championships in 2018 and 2019. He is majoring in Mass Media Communications.
