Burkholder competed in all seven tournaments for the Chaps as a junior, averaging a 75.81 round score across 21 rounds. He had one top-10 finish at the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational, when he shot 74, 70, 73 for an overall score of 217. Burkholder's best round, however, came at the Midwestern State Invitational when he shot a 69 on the way to a 218 overall score. At the end of the season, Burkholder was named the Lone Star Conference Men's Golf Academic Player of the Year, boasting a 4.0 GPA in business.
