2021 (Howard College)
In his one year playing for the Hawks, Coombes appeared in 12 games and posted an 8-1 overall record on the mound. He was second on the team with 55.2 innings pitched and posted a 5.66 ERA while averaging 13.26 strikeouts per nine innings in that time. Coombes allowed just 35 earned runs on 44 hits and 38 walks with 82 total strikeouts. 

2020 (Eastern N.M.)
Coombes was the ace of the Greyhound staff, starting six games before the COVID-19 pandemic cut the season short. He was on the mound for 35.2 innings, posting a 4.29 ERA. He allowed just 32 hits and 19 walks while striking out 42 batters and holding opponents to a .230 batting average.

2019 (Eastern N.M.)
Coombes pitched 14 times as a redshirt freshman, including five starts. In 37.1 innings, he allowed 30 earned runs on 51 hits and 20 walks. He struck out 37 batters, which was the third-most on the team, and recorded a pair of saves.
