Was with the Chaps, but did not play...

Junior College
Spent three seasons at Odessa College in Odessa, Texas. He made 12 appearances in 2014 and 17 appearances in 2016, combining for 29 games on the mound and all were in relief efforts. Combined for 33 strikeouts in 53 innings of work.  Served a medical redshirt season in 2015.
 
High School
Played alongside his twin brother, Daniel, at Midland Christian High School, where he graduated in 2013 claiming All-District (TAPPS 1-4A) honors as a senior. Midland Christian claimed the 2012 TAPPS 4A State Championship, as Crooks was a junior.
