Competed at Frenship High School in Wolfforth, Texas and played summer baseball for coach Trent Petrie with the Lubbock Baseball Academy... He claimed All-State (THSBCA and TSWA) honors as a senior...As a junior, he went 8-2 with a 1.52 ERA and 76 strikeouts with only 22 walks in 64.2 innings pitched, leading Frenship to a school-record 35 wins.... Three-time All-District selection... Was rated by Perfect Game as #19 High School Left-Handed Pitcher Prospect (Texas).
