Junior College
Played his freshman season in 2015 at Odessa College in Odessa College, where he appeared in 15 games and hit .200.
 
High School
A product of Goddard High School in Roswell, N.M., Nunez was a two-time All-State selection at catcher (2013,2014) and participated in the 2014 New Mexico 4A/5A All-Star Game (representing Southern New Mexico). He was part of Goddard’s state runner-up squad in 2014.
