Like most of the Chaps, Villareal ran the four-mile run for the first time in his career at the Texas Tech Open, finishing with a time of 21:10.3. He set a new personal best in the 8K at the NMJC Invitational, finishing sixth with a time of 25:54.8. The next week, Villareal would finish ninth overall at the D-II Preview in the 8K with a time of 27:19.1. He ended the season at the 2021 NCAA South Central Regional, finishing with a new personal best in the 10K with a time of 33:03.8
2019-20

Running a number of different distance events, Villareal recorded new personal bets in both the 3000-meter (8:58.14) and the mile (4:31.41). His mile performace came at the Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships and earned him a 13th place finish.Â
XC
Although he competed in just four races, Villareal set new personal bests at the 6K, 8K and 10K mark. His PR in the 8K came at the Chile Pepper XC Festival, hosted by the University of Arkansas. Villareal completed the course with a time of 26:26.8 and the Chaps finished above Division I programs like North Texas, Baylor and Texas State as a team. A the NCAA South Central Regional Championships, Villareal placed 98th with a 10K time of 34:26.3.Â
2018-19

Raced four times for the Chaps, posting his season best time of 28:02.7 at the Heartland Conference Championships, where he placed 54th. At the South Central Regional Championships he completed the 10K race with a time of 38:31.0.Â

Ran in distance events during both indoor and outdoor season. At the LSC Indoor Championships he placed 20th in the 5000-meter with a time of 17:22.39. During the outdoor season he posted collegiate-best times in the 1500-meter (4:14.33) and the 800-meter (2:06.07). He also competed in the 3000-meter steeplechase twice, including at the LSC Outdoor Championships where he placed 15th with a time of 11:09.15.
