Villalon primarily competed in the 800-meter and the mile during his first season with the track & field team. He set a personal best in the 800 at the Corky Classic with a time of 2:00.69 and set a best in the mile with a time of 4:19.99 at the GVSU Big Meet. Villalon was also apart of a distance medley relay team that placed sixth at the Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships. Outdoor season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his first collegiate season, Villalon competed in five meets. His best 8K time came at the Chile Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas, where he completed the race with a time of 26:23.7 and LCU placed above Division I programs like North Texas, Baylor and Texas State. At the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Championships, he finished 93rd with a 10K time of 34:22.5.
