John Dansby

Dansby’s tenure with the women’s golf team began in the spring of 2009 when he was appointed the Interim Head Coach and by the fall semester was named the Head Coach.

Dansby has guided the Lady Chaps to much success in over five years at the helm, delivering four top-10 finishes at the National Championships and a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Championship while shaping four All-Conference golfers, a SAC champion, two SAC and a NAIA Golfer of the Week, a NAIA All-Tournament honoree and a NAIA three-time All-American in Anna Schopp. Dansby was rewarded with his efforts by being named the SAC Coach of the Year in 2011.

Teams under Dansby not only excelled on the course, but in the classroom as well. Four of his golfers have been NAIA Scholar Athletes, two have been named to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Team and his daughter, Rachael, received the high honor of being a Capital One Academic All-American in 2011.

Prior to LCU, Dansby was at nearby Lubbock Christian School From 1999-2008 as the Secondary Principal and head boys’ and girls’ varsity golf coach.  Under his leadership, the LCS program garnered six state championships, seven individual state champions and numerous district and regional championships.

His first coaching position was with Eunice High School (N.M.) in 1993, serving as the boys’ and girls’ varsity golf coach.  Dansby was with Eunice High School until moving to Lubbock Christian School in 1999.

The Las Cruces, New Mexico, native earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1985 from Eastern New Mexico University and then completed a Master’s Degree in School Administration from College of the Southwest in 1998. 

John and his wife Michele have five children: Leah, Rachael, Jonathan, Joshua and Caleb.  Leah, Rachael and Jonathan have all been members of the LCU golf teams.
