Phillips comes to LCU after graduating from Garland's Sachse High School in Sachse, Texas, where she was a goalkeeper. She was part of a district championship at Sachse and was a two-time All-District selection, claiming First Team honors in 2015. Phillips played club soccer with Dallas area based Texas Spirit.
