Berlingeri joins the LCU coaching staff as the Goalkeeper Coach before the 2025 season following a venturesome playing career at LeTourneau University (NCAA DIII), Blinn College (Njcaa DI), University of Missouri- Kansas City (NCAA DI), and Lonestar Conference foe University of Texas at Tyler (NCAA DII).
Diego’s first year playing college soccer was at LETU playing for current Chap Head Coach, Collin Cone. Diego started and played 14 games during the 2019 season. He played in a monumental game where the Yellow Jackets took down undefeated and #7 ranked Hardin-Simmons University for only the second time in program history. He went on to finish the season being one of the top goalkeepers in the American Southwest Conference.
During his time at Blinn, Berlingeri was named First Team All-Region, recording the fourth-most saves in the Njcaa. He played 1,007 total minutes at Blinn, only allowing 1.23 goals per game on a 76.0% save percentage. Berlingeri was the first player in Blinn College Men's Soccer history to sign to play for a division 1 program.
Berlingeri’s time at UT-Tyler was also a massive success as he appeared in 13 matches totaling 735 minutes, while allowing 1.35 goals per game on a 72.5% save percentage. Diego helped the Patriots break into the top 25 poll during the 2023 season (#18).
The Puerto Rican descent graduated from UT-Tyler in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and will be pursuing his master’s in human performance during his time coaching at LCU.
Berlingeri was born in Fort Worth, Texas to parents Jose Ivan Berlingeri and Mayra Linera. He has two siblings, Gonzalo and Gabriel Berlingeri. Diego will be residing in Lubbock while coaching at LCU.
