Mitch Hallum was named Director of Tennis and Head Coach of the Lubbock Christian University men's and women's tennis programs in July of 2026, becoming the third head coach in the NCAA-era history of the Chaparrals and Lady Chaparrals.
Hallum arrived at LCU following a season as associate head coach at Highland Park High School, where he helped guide one of Texas' premier Class 5A tennis programs.
Before joining Highland Park, Hallum served as assistant director of tennis and head men's tennis coach at NCAA Division I Oral Roberts University during the 2023-24 season. There he managed all aspects of the men's tennis program, including recruiting, scholarship management, budgeting, scheduling, player development, academic oversight and community engagement.
Prior to Oral Roberts, Hallum spent two seasons as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's tennis programs at NCAA Division I UT Rio Grande Valley. His responsibilities included recruiting, practice planning, match strategy, travel coordination, NCAA compliance and student-athlete development.
Hallum also spent six years with the nationally recognized MAC 360 Tennis Academy in Texas, serving as assistant director while coaching numerous high-performance junior players. During his tenure, he helped develop several top-ranked junior competitors who advanced to NCAA Division I programs. His extensive junior coaching experience has allowed him to build strong recruiting relationships throughout Texas and across the country.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Hallum has been involved with the Texas A&M Tennis Camp for more than 15 years and currently serves as one of the camp's summer directors.
A native of Belton, Texas, Hallum was a three-year letter winner and team captain at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He earned All-American Southwest Conference honorable mention doubles recognition before graduating with a bachelor's degree in history and a minor in education. Following his collegiate playing career, Hallum spent two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Mary Hardin-Baylor before beginning his full-time coaching career.
