Oliver Houston IV enters his first season as the Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Athletic Performance at Lubbock Christian University, joining the LCU Athletics Department in June 2024 after three seasons at the University of Louisiana.
During his tenure in Lafayette, La. (2021-2024), Houston played a vital role in the 2022-23 Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball team, capturing a Sun Belt Conference Championship and earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament. He was also instrumental in the volleyball team’s historic 2022 postseason appearance, the first in program history. Additionally, his strength and conditioning programs contributed to the success of women’s tennis student-
athletes, helping them achieve double-digit win seasons while staying healthy and performing at a high level.
Before Louisiana, Houston spent two seasons at Texas Tech University (2019-2021) as a Strength and Conditioning Assistant for Men's Basketball, working under head strength coach John Reilly. He initially interned with the Red Raiders in 2018 before returning to Lubbock in the 2019-20 season.
A Garland, Texas native, Houston also served as a Sports Performance Coach at the Sports Performance Center at The Star in Frisco, TX, from 2018-20 and completed a two-year internship with the Dallas Mavericks as a Player Development Intern, then Athletic Performance Intern from 2016-18.
As a two-sport athlete at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB), Houston was a wide receiver for the Cru football team, helping secure four straight American Southwest Conference titles. He also played for the UMHB basketball team during the 2015-16 season. Houston earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2016
