Collin Cone was hired as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Lubbock Christian University in April of 2022, coming to LCU after leading the men’s soccer team at LeTourneau University for four seasons. In his three seasons as the Lubbock Christian head coach, the Chaps have posted an overall record of 27-26-20.
The Chaps are coming off their most successful season of the Cone era, posting an 8-8-4 record in 2025 and reaching the Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship game for only the second time in program history. Geoffroy Letienne was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year and was an All-Region selection, and goalkeeer Connor Pettigrew was named and Academic All-American and the LSC Academic Player of the Year.
In his tenure at LCU, Cone has coached a pair of All-Region selections, 15 All-Conference honorees and two Lone Star Conference Academic Player of the Year winners.
Freshman Justin Martinez was an All-Region pick in 2024, as the Chaparrals finished with a 6-6-5 record in a schedule that featured four nationally ranked opponents.
The 2023 season ended with a 6-4-7 record for LCU, who finished seventh in the LSC standings, just missing the conference tournament. Cone’s Chaps did not suffer a loss until the fifth game of the season, and they only lost on the road once all season. Pablo Galieter Diez and Tom Miles were All-LSC Second Team selections.
Cone’s tenure started off with a bang in 2022, as the Chaps routed Adams State 6-1 with a hat trick from Galietero Diez. The season also featured a draw against No. 4 Midwestern State, as the Chaps finished 7-8-4 on the year with Galietero Diez on the All-Conference First Team and Tariq Bakkali earning Academic Player of the Year honors.
Prior to coming to Lubbock, Cone guided LeTourneau through their best four-year span in school history. He posted back-to-back winning records in 2021 and the 2020-21 season, and had the team improve every year he was the head coach. The Yellow Jackets 6-5 showing in the 2020-21 season was the program’s first winning season since 2010.
Three out of the four seasons Cone was at the helm, the team made the ASC Conference Tournament, and he is the only soccer coach in school history to lead a team to more than one conference tournament (3 total). Cone was named the American Southwest Conference coach of the year at the conclusion of the 2021 season.
He led LETU to their first winning season since 2010 in the 2020-21 season after LETU capped off a 6-5 record. LeTourneau beat Concordia Texas for the first time in Cone’s tenure. The Jackets also knocked off eventual ASC champion Ozarks in the final regular season game to assure the winning record. The Yellow Jackets also knocked off SCAC Champion Centenary 2-0 earlier during the same season. His players received seven All-American Southwest Conference honors.
Prior to joining the Yellow Jacket family, Cone spent three years at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. He played a key role in the recruiting efforts for the Lancers while also working with the goalkeepers. In his final season at Grace, the Lancers won the Crossroads League Championship for the first time in 25 years and made it to the NAIA National Championship for the first time in 35 seasons. Cone’s time at Grace as a coach was marked by one conference championship, one NAIA national championship, two NCCAA National Tournaments, and two regional season tournament titles.
In addition to coaching at Grace College, Cone also spent three years as a student-athlete for the Lancers as a three-year starter. His time as a student-athlete at Grace College included two straight trips to the National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament.Cone registered a 23-16-7 mark in goal for the Lancers, making 203 saves and posting 15 shutouts.
In October of 2021, Cone was selected to the United Soccer Coaches/NSCAA “30 under 30” program, a group comprised of the 30 best soccer coaches under 30 years old in the United States.
Cone holds a master’s degree in physical education with a specialization in coaching from Ball State University. He also holds a United States Soccer Federation C License for coaching, as well as the Premier Diploma (Distinguished Pass), Advanced National Diploma, Director of Coaching Diploma, Goalkeeping 1, 2 and 3 Diploma, Sports Performance Diploma, Foundations of Coaching Diploma and Futsal Level 1 Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches.
He was born and raised in Central Africa to missionary parents who served overseas. He attended Rainforest International School in Yaoundé, Cameroon, where he graduated in 2009.
Cone resides in Lubbock with his wife, Anna and twin boys Andrick & Oliver.
