OKLAHOMA CITY (December 4, 2012) - Lubbock Christian University sophomore Kelsey Hoppel was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 26-Dec. 2.
Hoppel a 5-8 guard from Midland, Texas, averaged 15 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2 steals in a pair of wins over Oklahoma Christian. She had 21 points in the win at OC and a career-best nine rebounds and six assists in the home game. Hoppel currently ranks eighth in the NAIA in three-point shooting at a mark of 49% on the season.
The honor is the first for Hoppel in her career and the second honor received by a Lady Chaps member this season (Nicole Hampton claimed the honors in the second week of the season). LCU takes an 11-0 record into their SAC opener Tuesday at 6 p.m. hosting Wayland Baptist University.
