STORY LINES• The Chaparrals scored four goals in their combined opening four games of the season, and have combined for 17 goals in their last five games played.
• LCU is 3-0-0 since goalkeeper
Tim Saucedo has taken over in goal as the Chaps goalkeeper (following an injury to
Tristen Putnam). He ranks second in the Heartland Conference with a 1.24 GAA and with a 78.9% save percentage. One of only two seniors on the squad, Saucedo is now 5-1-0 in his LCU career.
•
Mbongeni Ndlovu was selected as the Heartland Conference Men's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week. Ndlovu's two goals on the week were his first goals of the season, with the first one coming in double overtime for a shocking 3-2 road win at Texas A&M International. His goal at St. Mary's was the opening goal in a 3-1 win to improve the Chaps to 3-0-0 in conference play. A junior from Bulawaylo Zimbabwe, Ndlovu has seven points in nine games this season with two goals and three assists. He ranks tied for sixth in the Heartland Conference in assists (3) and is tied for ninth in assists per game (.33). The honor is his first of his career. He joins
Lennard Hansen as LCU recipients of the honor this season.
• Surprisingly through the opening week of conference play, St. Edward's and Lubbock Christian University are the only Heartland Conference squads without a loss.
• LCU's latest offensive surge has them entering the weekend ranking third in the Heartland Conference in goals per game (2.3) and second in assists per game (2.1).
Lennard Hansen is fifth in the conference in points (14) and third in points per game (1.6).
• The Chaps enter the week on an eight-game Heartland Conference win streak (dating back to last season). It is the longest active conference win streak amongst NCAA Div.II programs.
SCOUTING RSU• The Hillcats enter the weekend 5-7-0 on the season and they are 1-2-0 in conference play. They are riding a two game losing streak.
• The last two games for Rogers State have come against ranked foes. They fell 2-0 at No.23 St. Edward's on Monday and then to No.13 Midwestern State 2-0 at home Wednesday.
• Rogers State is 2-2-0 on the road this season.
• The Hillcats rank second in the Heartland Conference in goals per game (2.5) and lead in assists per game (3). They also lead in corner kicks with a pace of 6.9 per game.
• RSU has the offense, but they do not have one individual in the top-7 of conference scoring. Their scoring is balanced, as 12 different players have at least one goal this season. Three players co-lead the team with four goals.
SERIES HISTORY WITH RSU• LCU leads the all-time series 3-0-2.
• Both LCU and RSU were members of the Sooner Athletic Conference before moving to the Heartland Conference.
• Three of the all-time meetings have ended in overtime including the last two: a 2-1 OT win by LCU in Claremore on Oct. 21, 2013 and a 2-2 tie on Oct. 11, 2012 in Lubbock, which has LCU leading the all-time series 1-0-1 at home.
