OKLAHOMA CITY (November 1, 2014) – Lubbock Christian University improved to 8-0-0 all-time in Heartland Conference road games Saturday night, as they went on the road and defeated Oklahoma Christian University 2-1 in conference action.
The Chaparrals improved to 6-1-0 on the season when scoring first, as
Tommy Fogarty-Cameron netted the first goal of the game in the 33rd minute. Fogarty-Cameron scored the unassisted goal for his sixth goal of the season.
Matt Santos became the 11th different Chap to score a goal this season, registering his first marker in the 67th minute for a 2-0 LCU lead. OC would get on the scoreboard in the 83rd minute with a penalty kick goal scored by Domenico DeGrazia. It was the third goal off a penalty kick by a Chaps opponent this season. The Eagles goal ended a head-to-head scoreless sequence of 384:13 against LCU, which went on to improve to 5-0-0 all-time against OC.
Santos was credited with the game winning goal, which means all seven game winning goals by the Chaps this season have come from seven different individuals. LCU won despite being out-shot 19-17 overall. The Chaps did outshoot OC 7-5 in shots on goal. LCU's
Tim Saucedo stopped four shots to improve his goalkeeping record to 5-2-0. OC's Evan Helker made five stops in goal and fell to 3-9-1 with the loss.
The Chaps are 7-5-2 overall with the win and are 5-2-0 in conference play, while OC fell to 3-9-1 overall and 2-5-0 in conference. LCU will close out the conference portion of their schedule Monday at 2:30 p.m. in Dallas facing Dallas Baptist University. With Newman defeating Rogers State Saturday, the best LCU could finish in conference play is 6-2-0, which would secure a third place conference finish.
