Men's Soccer Chris Due

Mother Nature Wins... Game Cancelled Between Chaps and Southwestern Christian

LUBBOCK, Texas (September 20, 2014) – The Lubbock Christian University Athletic Department has announced that Saturday's men's soccer contest between the Chaparrals and Southwestern Christian University has been cancelled due to unplayable conditions.

LCU Soccer Field, a natural grass surface, has standing water and all area alternate locations are booked and/or unavailable. The game will not be made up this season.

Lubbock International Airport has received measurable rain accumulation 12 of the past 16 days and the National Weather Service has forecasted rain chances over 50-percent for Saturday and Sunday. The September weather the South Plains is encountering is certainly unseasonable. In their five-year history, LCU men's and women's soccer had only experienced one home game in which weather played a postponement or change over the prior four season (last season LCU moved a home game from LCU to Frenship High School to face Texas A&M International). This season, three games have already been affected and the LCU men's soccer program has yet to play a regular season game on the LCU Soccer Field pitch.

The Chaps are scheduled to play their next game Sept. 25 in Odessa, Texas against Texas-Permian Basin (non-conference game), and their next home game is scheduled for Oct. 2 against Eastern New Mexico.
