5:00 PM – September 5, 2014 – FHSU Soccer Stadium at Bickle-Schmidt Sports Complex
LIVE SCORING / WEATHER

HAYS, Kan. (September 5, 2014) – The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals open their 2014 campaign Friday at 5 p.m. by facing Drury University in the Days Inn Classic hosted by Fort Hays State University.

CHAPS FLIGHT DECK
•    The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals are 4-0-0 in season openers, but this opener marks the first time LCU has opened the season away from home and the first time they have opened against an opponent other than Southwest (N.M.).
•     The Chaps open the season with consecutive neutral site contests before their home opener (Sept. 11). They close out play in the Days Inn Classic Sunday morning against Colorado State – Pueblo.
•      LCU is 1-1-0 all-time in neutral site games, playing a pair in the 2012 season.

STORY LINES
•    The contest marks the first game for Chaps interim head coach Lee Williams, who replaced Matt Barnes last month, as Barnes accepted the head coaching position at San Francisco State.
•    The Chaps went 6-2 away from home last season and have won five straight contests away from home (shutout wins in four of the five).
•    The Chaparrals have 20 new members on their roster for the 2014 season. Eighteen (18) of the new members are freshmen and two (Lennard Hansen and Scott Silknitter) are transfers.
•    Despite a tremendous season last year, the Chaps had a slow start to the season. They defeated Southwest (N.M.) 6-1 in their opener, but then went 0-2-1 and only scored one goal in a three-game span.
•    It will be a new look squad this season for LCU, as nine starters from last season's squad have left. Included in the mix was their top four scorers, which included All-American Billy Forbes, and All-Conference goalkeeper Erik Mozzo.
•    The grounds will be familiar for one player making his Chap debut. Scott Silknitter gets to make his LCU debut on his home soil. The Whitewater, Kan. native played junior college at Coffeyville Community College and has family from Hays, which is where LCU will play their opening two games.

SCOUTING DRURY
•    The Panthers went 13-7-0 last season and returns 10 starters off that squad.
•    Drury was an original member of the Heartland Conference, but they are now in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Panthers are picked fifth in their conference preseason rankings.
•    DU was ranked as high as fourth nationally last season in the NSCAA Top 25 Polls.
•    The Panthers went 9-4-0 away from home last season and 1-2-0 in neutral site contests.
•    Nick Ammann was their leading scorer last season and returns after 17 points (7g,3a) last season.

•   The Chaps have never faced an opponent from the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
