WEATHERHAYS, Kan. (September 7, 2014) – The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals are seeking their first victory for the 2014 season and they wrap up their stay at the Days Inn Classic facing Colorado State University – Pueblo Sunday at 11 a.m.
CHAPS FLIGHT DECK• The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals are 0-1-0 on the season after falling 2-1 Friday evening to Drury University. It was the first season opening loss for the Chaps, who are now 4-1-0 in season openers.
• The Chaps are playing their final neutral site game of the season, and they will be returning home after the season to play four of their next six games at LCU Soccer Field.
• LCU is 1-2-0 all-time in neutral site games, losing their last two neutral site contests played.
STORY LINES• The Chaparrals are seeking their first ever win under interim head coach
Lee Williams, who is 0-1-0 thus far at the helm. Williams replaced Matt Barnes last month, as Barnes accepted the head coaching position at San Francisco State.
• The Chaps went 6-2 away from home last season, and had won five straight contests away from home (shutout wins in four of the five) until falling Friday.
• LCU was out-shot by Drury Friday 23-4. The four shots were the least by the Chaps since being held to four by University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma on Nov. 10, 2011. The -19 differential was the most disparaging number in program history.
• Lubbock Christian is seeking to avoid consecutive losses for the first time since closing out the 2012 season with a trio of defeats.
• Twenty new members on the LCU roster, but their lone goal Friday came from an old source.
Stewart MacDonell, the only senior in the starting lineup, scored LCU's only goal in their 2-1 loss. The goal was the fifth in MacDonell's career, and the first since Oct. 19, 2013 at Newman, which ironically is in Kansas.
• The grounds at Fort Hays State, who is hosting the Days Inn Classic, is familiar to Chap newcomer
Scott Silknitter. The Whitewater, Kan. native played junior college at Coffeyville Community College and has family from Hays, Kan.
SCOUTING CSU-Pueblo• The ThunderWolves are returning eight players from a 4-13-1 season.
• CSU-Pueblo will have a new home to go to following the game, as they will open their home schedule Friday at the brand new Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
• Members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), the ThunderWolves are preseason picked seventh out of the nine-team conference.
• The ThunderWoves, like LCU, are 0-1-0 on the season and opened play Friday with a 2-1 loss after falling to host Fort Hays State.
• Jack Gonzales had the only goal for CSU-Pueblo and it was the equalizer before they surrendered the deciding goal with 7:56 left.
SERIES HISTORY WITH CSU-Pueblo• LCU and CSU-Pueblo have never met.
• The Chaps have never faced an opponent from the RMAC.
• LCU is 1-1-0 all-time on Kansas soil.
