HOW IT HAPPENED• For only the second time this season, LCU scored first, with
Tommy Fogarty-Cameron playing
Andres Ramirez's shot off the crossbar into the goal for his third goal of the season and ninth of his career. The goal came in the 43rd minute and LCU took a 1-0 lead into the half.
• Luis Sanchez tied the game at 1-1 with a header for a goal for St. Mary's in the 67th minute.
• A foul against the Chaps led to a converted penalty kick for a goal by Aaron Dunks with 4:11 remaining. Dunks has four goals on the season and two have come on penalty kicks, with each resulting in the game winning goal.
GAME NOTES• The loss was LCU's first ever loss in a conference opener. They are now 4-1-1 in conference openers (2-1-0 in Heartland Conference openers). In Heartland Conference play, LCU is now 14-4-0 all-time and 5-4-0 all-time in conference home games.
• The Chaps suffered their first loss when leading at the half (3-1-0). LCU had won their prior 11 games when leading at the half, with the last loss when leading at half coming on Oct. 3, 2013 against Eastern New Mexico.
• LCU had a 26-13 advantage in shots on goal.
Chase Williams led all players with six shots. The advantage in shots on goal was a 6-5 mark by LCU. In the second half, LCU had a 17-9 shot advantage.
• Fogarty-Cameron has scored in three consecutive games for the first time in his career.
• LCU drops to 3-1-0 all-time against StMU, as it was the Rattlers first ever win against LCU.
• The Chaparrals are now 1-2-1 at home this season. They are 4-5-2 all-time at home under Williams and 25-13-6 all-time at home overall.

UP NEXTLubbock Christian (3-3-1, 0-1-0) remains home for the fourth game of their current seven-game homestand Saturday (noon) to host Texas A&M International for a Heartland Conference match. The Dustdevils (3-5-0, 1-0-0) scored a goal in the 88th minute to force overtime and then received a golden goal in overtime to defeat Texas-Permian Basin 3-2 Thursday in Odessa, Texas.
