•
Mickey Brunton increased his team lead in assists to four on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED• Tayeb Ahmadi redeemed himself from a missed penalty kick attempt with the game's opening goal in the 63rd minute to provide TAMIU with a 1-0 lead.
• With a battle in the interior of the box, Fogarty-Cameron was able to send a loose ball to the right side of the box to Chapman-Page, who was able to drill home his first goal of the season. The goal, his second of his career, tied the contest up in the 71st minute.
• Fogarty-Cameron was able to net the game winning goal with 5:42 left in regulation off a corner kick put in play by Brunton.
GAME NOTES• The game's start was delayed 30 minutes due to weather followed by a 90-minute delay again at halftime with another weather stoppage.
• LCU was in familiar territory facing a 1-0 deficit in the game. Chaps opponents have scored first in six games, including three of LCU's four wins this season. LCU is 3-2-1 when allowing the first goal.
• LCU had a 26-6 advantage in shots. Fogarty-Cameron alone had more shots (7) than the entire Dustdevils roster (6). The advantage in shots on goal was a 9-2 mark by LCU. LCU has out-shot their opponents in every game this season.
• Fogarty-Cameron has scored a goal in four consecutive games. The last Chap to score in four consecutive games was Billy Forbes, who completed the task in October of the 2013 season.
• LCU improves to 2-1-0 all-time against TAMIU and it was the first time in the all-time series in which the home team won.
• The Chaparrals are now 2-2-1 at home this season. They are 5-5-2 all-time at home under Williams and 26-13-6 all-time at home overall.
INSIDE THE NUMBERSPenalty Kicks: For a second consecutive game, LCU was whistled for an infraction allowing the opposition to attempt a penalty shot. Unlike the end result Thursday, Chaps goalkeeper
Tristen Putnam would make the stop. Ahmadi attempted the shot in the first half. He aimed to the left of Putnam, but Putnam dove towards the low kick and make the save. It marked the second time in program history in which the Chaps have denied a penalty shot attempt, as opponents are now 17-for-19 all-time against the Chaps in penalty kicks. The only prior time a Chaps opponent was unsuccessful on a penalty kick was on Oct. 18, 2012 at Oklahoma City.
UP NEXTLubbock Christian (4-3-1) remains home Monday to host No.2 Midwestern State at 4 p.m. for a non-conference contest. The Mustangs are 7-0-0 this season.
