Long Distance Goals Keeps LCU Perfect in Conference Openers

LCU Garners 50th Program Win and They are 6-0-0 All-Time in Conference Openers

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
• Lubbock Christian received goals all from the back, as goal scorers Kate O'Gara, Madison Boyd and Lois Colley are all defenders and all scored on set-pieces.
• LCU remains unbeaten at home this season and unbeaten all-time in conference openers.
• The win was the program's 50th all-time victory (50-38-9).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• LCU, who has not lost a game when they score at least one goal, opened the game's scoring in the 48th minute with Kate O'Gara scoring on a set-piece from 20 yards out.
Madison Boyd had a set-piece from midfield and put a shot on goal that bounced over goalkeeper Alyssa Taramona and into the goal for a 2-0 lead in the 52nd minute.
• St. Mary's cut the LCU lead to 2-1 with a goal from Rachel Gurinsky in the 69th minute (fifth goal of season), but 2:45 later (72nd minute), Lois Colley put the Lady Chaps up 3-1 with a goal from 40 yards out on a set-piece for her first collegiate goal.  
 
GAME NOTES
• LCU is now 6-0-0 all-time in conference openers (3-0-0 in Heartland Conference openers). They are 14-4-0 all-time in Heartland Conference games and 7-2-0 all-time in Heartland Conference home games.
• O'Gara ended St. Mary's shutout sequence at 352:12, as they had shutout the prior three opponents.
• What a time for Colley to score her first collegiate goal, as the freshman from Farham, England scored the goal with her father, Ian, in attendance. Ian arrived in time for the game after travelling in from England for his first opportunity to watch her play in person for LCU.
• LCU goalkeeper Leslie Castellano claimed her first conference win in goal. She stopped three of four shots as LCU out-shot StMU 12-7 (9-4 on target).
• With the win, LCU moves to 3-0-2 at home this season and is now 20-6-4 all-time at home under Alex Denning. They are 23-14-6 all-time overall at home.
• LCU is now 3-2-0 all-time against St.MU and have won three straight against the Rattlers.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
55:42: The Lady Chaps held St. Mary's without a shot on goal for the game's first 55:42.

Lubbock Christian (3-2-3) remains home Saturday at 2:30 p.m. hosting Texas A&M International (1-7-0), who plays in Odessa, Texas Thursday night (vs. Texas-Permian Basin) before coming to Lubbock.
