Lady Chaps End Scoreless Drought, But Cant End Losing Skid

LCU Had a Shot (or 26), But Cant Win Regular Season Finale

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
Brooke Wendl added to her career totals with a goal.
• LCU produced a 26-3 shots advantage.
• Wendl matched the third highest single-season total in program history with 10 shots.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Erica Ancich opened the scoring 18:30 into the game with a goal off a penalty kick for the Falcons.
• A foul with 3:12 remaining in the first half led to a penalty shot and goal for LCU, with Wendl scoring on the attempt.
• Jasmine Lopez regained the Falcons lead with a goal 6:58 into the second half.
 
GAME NOTES
• The Lady Chaps concluded their Heartland Conference season with a 5-3-0 conference record, falling in their last three conference games of the season.   
• The 2-1 loss not only marks their first one-goal differential loss of the season (2-1-0) but also marks the first time they have lost this season without it resulting in a shutout loss.
• Wendl scored a goal, which ended LCU's long dry spell. LCU, the Heartland Conference's leading offensive team, went without a goal for a program record time of 323:13 until Wendl's goal. The prior program record for longest scoreless sequence was 306:47.
• LCU had been 1-0-3 when tied at the half prior to this week, but now LCU has lost two consecutive games in which the score was tied at half (1-2-3).
• The Lady Chaps capitalized on their 12th penalty kick in program history and their fourth attempt of the season with Wendl scoring the team's 11th penalty kick goal in program history and their third of the season (3-for-4 this season). Wendl is LCU's all-time leading scorer in penalty kicks with five in her LCU career (she is 5-for-5 all-time).
• Wendl scored her LCU career-leading 47th goal (10th of the season) and now has 123 career points (program's career leader).
• With the loss, LCU is 1-6-1 on the road this season and are 16-18-1 all-time on the road under head coach Alex Denning. Overall all-time, LCU is 26-28-3 on the road.
• LCU falls to 3-2-1 against UTPB in the all-time series. UTPB went 1-0-1 against LCU this season, with goalkeeper Ebony Campbell stopping 29 of 31 shots on goal in the season series.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
12: LCU, who out-shot UTPB 26-3, had a shot on goal differential advantage of 12 as they produced a 15-3 advantage in shots on goal.
