HOUSTON (August 28, 2015) – Houston Baptist University received a pair of goals 13:40 apart from George Kelley and a trio of second half goals 16:30 apart to open their season with a 3-0 win over Lubbock Christian University Friday night at Sorrels Field.
Due to NCAA calendar policies, the game was a regular season game for HBU and an exhibition game for LCU.
The game was scoreless for the opening 67 minutes, but in the 68
th minute, Kelley recorded his first of two consecutive goals. He added his second in the 82
nd minute. Marcelo Acuna put the game out of reach with an unassisted goal 2:50 later, as 5:55 remained in the game.
Philip Poser recorded the clean sheet for HBU, stopping three of LCU's shots on goal. He was able to receive a team save on a ball cleared behind him, as LCU produced four shots on goal. Overall shots were even, with each team recording 15 shots.
Lennard Hansen led LCU with four, but none were on target.

Fernando Rios started for LCU and allowed three goals off seven shots faced.
LCU closes out their preseason and will return home to host to open their regular season Sept. 5 hosting University of the Southwest (N.M.) at LCU Soccer Field.
