Hopkins Scores Twice For First Career Multi-Goal Game

GAME INFORMATION
Score: Lubbock Christian 5, University of the Southwest (N.M.) 4
Records: Lubbock Christian (1-0-0), Southwest (1-1-0)
Location: LCU Soccer Field, in Lubbock, Texas

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
Mitchell Hopkins recorded his first two-goal game and doubled his career goal production.
Lennard Hansen produced a four-point game with a goal and two assists, which tied a program single-game record in assists.
Kwame Adu-Wusu's first career goal turned out to be the game winner following a late flurry of goals by USW.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• LCU produced three goals in the first half and had to overcome a 1-0 deficit after the Mustangs received the first lead 5:17 into the game off an "own goal."
• Hopkins converted on a cross from Hansen in the 7th minute (48 seconds after USW's goal) to tie the game at 1-1. The two connected again in the 76th minute, which built LCU's lead to 4-2.
• 4:48 following Hopkins' second goal, the eventual game winning goal was scored by Adu-Wusu, on a header off a pass by freshman Jacob Zapata.

GAME NOTES
• The Chaparrals improved to 5-0-0 all-time in home openers and 5-1-0 in season openers.
• Hansen recorded his second two-assist game of his LCU career and it ties a program record, as the two-assist mark has been accomplished 21 times.
• The goal scored by Hansen came off a penalty kick in the 25th minute. It was his first goal and penalty kick attempt with LCU. The Chaps only had one penalty kick attempt last season.
• LCU out-shot USW 22-10 and 11-6 in shots on goal. The 22 shots is the second highest mark since Lee Williams took over as interim head coach last season (he was officially named head coach this past offseason).
• With Kwame Adu-Wusu recording the game winning goal, LCU has had 10 different players record game winning goals since last season and no player has at least two over that span.
