Lady Chaps Out-Shoot Falcons 37-4 But Settle For Program Single Season Record Third Draw

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
Madison Boyd scored the lone goal for LCU.
• LCU remains unbeaten at home this season.
• The Lady Chaps produced a season high 37 shots.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• UTPB jumped on the scoreboard first with Jasmin Lopez netting her first goal of the season in the 61st minute.
• The Falcons lead lasted 4:29, as Boyd's header off Brooke Wendl's corner kick resulted in her second goal of the season and tied the contest at 1-1 in the 65th minute.
• LCU out-shot UTPB 8-0 in overtime, but was unable to find the game-winning goal.  
 
GAME NOTES
• The overtime draw marks the third time this season an LCU game has ended in a tie, which sets a new single season mark for ties in program history. LCU is now 2-6-9 all-time in games ending in overtime (0-0-3) this season.
• UTPB goalkeeper Ebony Campbell made 15 saves off 16 shots on goal faced. The 15 saves tied for the second highest save total by a LCU opponent (record is 17) and the most since St. Gregory's goalkeeper Jennifer Taber stopped 15 shots on Oct. 4, 2012.
• LCU had a season high 37 shots, which ranks tied for the fifth highest single-game total in program history (Sept. 24, 2013 against Northwestern Okla. State was the last time they had at least 37 shots). The Lady Chaps out-shot the Falcons 37-4 in the game and had a 16-3 advantage in shots on goal. LCU had a 16-1 advantage of shots at the half and then followed with a 24-3 shot advantage after the half.
• The game was between two Heartland Conference squads, but does not count as a Heartland Conference game, as their conference tilt is scheduled for Oct. 31 in Odessa, Texas.
• With the tie, LCU moves to 2-0-2 at home this season and is now 18-6-4 all-time at home under Alex Denning (11-3-2 all-time under Denning in non-conference home games). They are 22-14-6 all-time overall at home.
• LCU is now 3-1-1 all-time against UTPB and 1-1-1 in non-conference games against the Falcons.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

28 : In the last two games played in Lubbock, UTPB goalkeeper Ebony Campbell has made 28 saves. She stopped 13 of 15 shots on goal in a 2-0 LCU win on Oct. 6, 2014.
 
UP NEXT
Lubbock Christian (2-2-3) remains home Thursday at 4:30 p.m. hosting St. Mary's (5-2-0), who enters on a three-game win streak with shutouts in all three wins.  The game is LCU's Heartland Conference opener.
