LCU's two-game non-conference win streak came to an end Tuesday, as for the third time this season, LCU lost in four sets. The Lady Chaps were handed a loss by the Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M University, which puts LCU at 6-6 in non-conference matches on the season. This match against WTAMU marks this first time this season that the Lady Chaps lost while producing at least a .156 attack percentage. LCU is now 4-3 against Lone Star Conference opponents and 2-3 in away games this season. WTAMU's Cori Haley collected her second consecutive double-double and seventh of the season, posting 20 digs and 10 kills.
How It Happened
Set One
There were three lead changes with the Lady Chaps taking charge at the top of the set. However, a late ace by Taylor Kress allowed the Lady Buffs to take their first lead. A kill by
Emily Hanaway sparked a 6-0 run for the Lady Chaps. But the Lady Buffs finished the set on a 5-2 run. WTAMU won the set with a final score of 26-24.
Set Two
The Lady Chaps dominated the second set with a .310 attack percentage while also holding the Lady Buffs to a .029 attack percentage.
Mallory Powell collected nine of her 41 assists in the set. Even though the Buffs began the set with a 4-1 run, LCU scored four straight points to take a 5-4 lead. LCU never lost the lead the rest of the way, finishing the set on a kill by
Emily Hanaway to win 25-14.
Set Three
WTAMU's Elisa Bentsen captured six kills and two blocks, while Selene Batiste collected one of her two aces of the evening to assist the Lady Buffs in an early 6-2 run. A late attack error, by
Ariel Froeschl, allowed WTAMU to take their final lead of the match. Elisa Bentsen and Selene Batiste combined for a block to complete an 8-3 run to finish the set for WTAMU 28-26.
Set Four
Even though LCU jumped out to an early 2-0 start, an attack error by
Christiana Tavo gave the Lady Buffs a 3-2 lead. From that point on, WTAMU never trailed for the rest of the set. The Lady Buffs finished the set 25-18 on a kill by Elisa Bentsen.

Mallory Powell had 41 of LCU's 49 assists on the night as well as a season high .455 attack percentage. She completed a double-double with 11 assists and was four kills shy of a triple-double.
