Highlights
Playing in San Antonio, Texas 18 hours prior, Lubbock Christian University headed to Laredo, Texas on Saturday for a Heartland contest against the Dustdevils of Texas A&M International. The Lady Chaps were eager to end their six-match road trip as they defeated TAMIU in a quick 3-0 game. LCU was lifted on the shoulders of Christiana Tavo and Ariel Froeschl who threw down attack percentages of .500 and .562, respectively. The Lady Chaps are now 15-10 on the season and 8-3 in Heartland play. The win, combined with a St. Edward's loss against Newman Saturday places LCU in sole possession of second place in the Heartland Conference standings. Lubbock Christian finished their road trip by winning four of the six matches (winning four of five conference matches on the set and winning each of them in straight sets). LCU remains perfect all-time  against the Dustdevils and are now 11-0 in the series that dates back to 2005.

How It Happened

Set One
LCU's Camille Porco grabbed the first point of the day as she tucked away a kill from Tavo. Alexis Villa answered for TAMIU with a kill and an ace to put the Dustdevils up 3-1. An 8-2 streak allowed LCU to take the lead at 9-5. The Lady Chaps were then able to keep the Dustdevils at bay for the rest of the set. Froeschl provided the final three points for Lubbock Christian to win the set 25-11. The Lady Chaparrals provided an astounding 16 kills on 29 attempts in the first set. Lauren Zoller, Froeschl and Tavo each provided three of those 16 kills. Porco led LCU with four kills on five swings to help the Lady Chaps reach a stunning .517 kill percentage.

Set Two
The Dustdevils came out swinging in the second set as they posted nine kills. Despite going up 4-3 early in the set, TAMIU just couldn't keep it together as a service ace by LCU's Lupita Quintanilla provided the Lady Chaps with the only lead change they needed. Froeschl attacked the net to pick up a kill and put some space between the LCU and the Dustdevils at 10-6. Texas A&M International attempted to mount a comeback as an LCU service error allowed the Dustdevils to climb within two points at 11-9. Their attempts proved futile, as the Lady Chaps went on a 9-2 run to put the score at 20-11 in favor of Lubbock Christian. Porco put a bow on the set by throwing down her fifth kill of the day. LCU won by a score of 25-14.

Set Three
Although the third set proved to be the closest of the day, it was still not enough to extend the match. TAMIU's Jordan Ruiz posted the first point with her second kill of the afternoon. The lead was short lived for the Dustdevils, as LCU stole the lead back at 2-1 off of a kill by Zoller. From that point on, Lubbock Christian continued to widen the gap between the squads. In the middle of the set, a 9-1 run gave the Lady Chaps a 15-5 lead over the Dustdevils. An attack error by TAMIU finished the match and Lubbock Christian walked off the court with a 25-15 third-set victory.
