Big day at the plate caps weekend in Alamo City

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (February 6, 2016) – The Lady Chap bats came alive in their only game of the day winning 11-1 over the Colorado School of Mines to end the NCAA Division II College Classic on a positive note. The two seniors from Palmdale, Calif., Sammie Murrietta and Liz Torres, were selected to the All-Tournament Team.

TWO-OUT RALLY
Lubbock Christian (7-3) was first on the scoreboard with a two-out, solo bomb over the left field fence by senior Molly Davison. Addison Ard followed by drawing a walk on four straight pitches. Then senior Ashton Bell singled to get on and both Ard and Bell were driven in by senior Katlin Reed to put the Lady Chaps up 3-0 after two innings of play.

TWELVE
After the Orediggers (0-5) were able to get a run in the top of the third, LCU sent 12 batters to the plate in the bottom half of the inning. Murrietta would get two hits by driving in one on her first try and three with her second hit of the frame. Davison joined in with a double for her second hit of the day.

FOR THE WIN
Katlyn Holmes (2-1) got her fourth start of the year in the circle for LCU and threw all five innings to earn the win by allowing one run on two hits and striking out two. Maddie Rogers (0-4) suffered the loss for Colorado School of Mines pitching all four innings against the Lady Chaps and giving up 11 runs on nine hits, allowing four walks.
