LUBBOCK, Texas (April 20, 2016) – Three home runs from No. 1 West Texas A&M proved too much for Lubbock Christian University softball Wednesday leading to the first Lady Chap loss at PlainsCapital on the season.
HOME WRECKERS
A solo home run by Brittany Gehle in the third inning, another solo shot by Brittany Cruz in the fourth and a grand slam home run in fifth by Andrea Sitter cause the Lady Chaps (39-12) to fall at home for the first time this year. The Lady Buffs (46-2) also got a run in the third when Shayne Starkey singled up the middle.
Lindzi Clemmer went 2-for-4, while the only other hits came from
Ashton Bell,
Katera Eltsosie and
Katlin Reed.
IN THE CIRCLE
Eltsosie (19-6) started in the circle for LCU and went five innings giving up seven runs off eight hits, striking out three Lady Buffs while walking six, suffering her sixth loss this season.
Katlyn Holmes came in to pitch the last two innings not allowing any runs while striking out three. Kilee Halbert (20-1) got the start for WTAMU going the distance allowing only five hits on her way to her 20th victory of the year.

The Lady Chaps take the field again Friday for their final home series of the 2016 season hosting the Jets of Newman University with a double header set for a 4 p.m. start. Saturday's game will begin at 11 a.m. with a Senior Day celebration set to start 15 minutes prior.
