Draw Marks a Heartland First For Chaps... So Does Three Straight Defensive Shutouts

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
Erwin Regules led LCU with five shots, with one on goal.
• LCU played the game's final 30:33 shorthanded after Cedric Omoregie received a red card late in the second half.
Fernando Rios produced four saves en route to his third consecutive shutout of the season and of his career.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fernando Rios made four saves, with two in the first half and one in the second overtime.
• Blake Andrews of Newman stopped four shots on goal, stopping three of the shots in the second half.
• Carlos Rubio Garcia and Marian Saar of Newman co-led all players in shots on goal with two.
 
GAME NOTES
• The shutout was the third of the season and they come in consecutive games for the first time ever in program history. It was LCU's 26th shutout in program history (14th at home) and the third under head coach Paul Gilbert.
• The 0-0 draw marks the second 0-0 draw in program history (both have been at home). The first was a 0-0 draw against Huston-Tillotson on Sept. 14, 2013.
• The tie placed LCU with an all-time overall record of 8-2-13 in games ending in overtime. It was the first draw under head coach Paul Gilbert and the first of this season.
• LCU also suffered a shutout in the tie and it marks the third time they have been shutout this season. All-time, it was the 27th time they have been shutout and the 14th time at home.
• The Chaps are 18-8-1 all-time in Heartland Conference contests and 7-6-1 all-time in Heartland Conference home games (LCU, 1-0-1 this season at home in conference play, went 1-3-0 last season at home in conference action). The draw was their first ever draw in a Heartland Conference contest.
• Ramirez extended his streak of minutes played and has played in all 560 minutes of the season (the most by a Chaps non-goalkeeper this season).
• LCU is now 1-2-1 all-time against NU and 0-1-1 all-time as the home team against the Jets.
• The Chaparrals, moving to 1-0-1 at home this season, are now 27-15-8 all-time at home overall.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
291:35 – LCU and goalkeeper Fernando Rios have not allowed a goal in a span of 291:35.

Lubbock Christian (2-3-1) returns to the road Thursday and heads to Austin, Texas to face St. Edward's for a conference contest.
