Chaps Suffer First Heartland Loss of the Season

LCU Without a Shot On Goal For Second Time in Program History

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
• LCU suffered their first Heartland Conference loss of the season.
• The contest was LCU's first game against a ranked opponent this season.
• Erwin Regules and Mickey Brunton had LCU's only shots in the game.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Samuel Jackson bookended the game's scoring for a two-goal game for SEU. His goals came in the 28th minute and 71st minute.
• Hunter Williams had the Hilltoppers second goal of the game, tallied in the 38th minute.
• Kevin Leib was credited with the shutout, but the SEU goalkeeper never had a shot on goal to deny.
 
GAME NOTES
• LCU suffered a shutout, marking the fourth time they have been shutout this season. All-time, it was the 28th time they have been shutout and the 14th time on the road. LCU has suffered a shutout in consecutive games for the first time this season and have not scored in a span of 202:71.
• SEU's opening goal ended LCU's defensive shutout sequence at a new program record setting mark of 318:50. The same time also marked a program individual record for goalkeeper Fernando Rios.
• With the loss, LCU fell to 3-7-2 all-time against nationally ranked programs (0-2-1 against top-five programs).
• LCU was held to two shots in the game and without a shot on goal. It marked the second time in program history the Chaps have been held without a shot on goal and the first since Oct. 16, 2010 (vs. Science & Arts of Oklahoma). The two shots was an all-time single-game program low.
• The Chaps are 18-9-1 all-time in Heartland Conference contests and 11-3-0 all-time in Heartland Conference road games.
• Andres Ramirez streak of consecutive minutes played (this season) ended, as he had played every second of the Chaps season until exiting off for a substitution in the 71st minute. His streak ended at 630:05.
• LCU is now 1-3-0 all-time against SEU and 1-2-0 all-time as the road team against the Hilltoppers.
• The Chaps are now 1-4-0 on the road this season (went 6-3-0 last season on the road) and 33-21-5 all-time in road play.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
4 – The four shutouts this season matches a single season high for LCU.
 
UP NEXT
Lubbock Christian (2-4-1, 1-1-1) remains on the road Saturday with a stop in Dallas to face Dallas Baptist (3-3-1, 1-2-0) in a Heartland Conference contest.
