Another Game of High Shot Octane Leads to Shutout Win

LCU Fires Off 46 Shots In Win Over Dustdevils

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
• LCU produced their second most shots in a game in program history with 46.
Haley Knesek produced a career-high four points off a goal and two assists. The two-assist game ties a program single-game record for a 19th time.
• LCU's Sarah Palmer claimed her fourth shutout of the season and it came on three saves.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Knesek opened the game's scoring 10:45 into the game with a goal set up by Hollie Windham.
• LCU went on with three goals in a span 16:12 to take a 4-0 lead with 4:12 in the first half. Mariah Sweeney (penalty kick) and Kate O'Gara followed an own goal and helped LCU take a 4-0 lead into the halftime.
• Windham converted on a three-point game with a goal in the game's 65th minute for a 5-0 lead.
 
GAME NOTES
• LCU's five goals was a season high and the most since five goals on Oct. 10, 2015.
• The Lady Chaps have combined for 103 shots and 32 shots on goal in their last two games. Prior to the mark, LCU had a total of 67 shots and 31 shots on goal in their combined first five games.
• LCU recorded their fourth shutout win of the season. The shutout was LCU's 34th shutout overall in program history. It was also the fourth shutout for freshman goalkeeper Sarah Palmer.
• O'Gara, who recorded her first goal of the season and fifth of her career, produced 10 shots in the contest, which ranked tied for the third highest individual mark for shots in program single-game history.
• The Lady Chaps move to 20-9-1 all-time in Heartland Conference games and 12-2-1 in Heartland Conference home games.
• With the win, LCU moves to 3-0-1 at home this season and is now 27-6-5 all-time at home under Alex Denning. They are 30-14-7 all-time overall at home. LCU is unbeaten in their last 13 home games (10-0-3).
• The meeting was the fourth all-time meeting between the two programs and LCU remains unbeaten (4-0-0) against TAMIU. LCU has outscored TAMIU 14-0 all-time.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
1: The Lady Chaps capitalized on their 13th penalty kick in program history and their first attempt of the season with Mariah Sweeney scoring the team's 12th penalty kick goal in program history. Sweeney was selected to kick the penalty kick attempt because she was celebrating her birthday Saturday. The goal was the freshman's first collegiate goal.
 
UP NEXT
Lubbock Christian (4-2-1, 2-2-1) remains home Thursday and will host Newman (3-3-3, 2-2-1) for a Heartland Conference game at 3 p.m.
