• Lubbock Christian University fell to St. Edward's Saturday afternoon in a 3-0 loss at SEU's Lewis – Chen Field in Austin, Texas.
• LCU recorded seven shots for the day from six different players against the Hilltopper defense.
Claudia Sanchez led the Lady Chaps with two shots in total and one shot on target.
• Lubbock Christian's two shots on goal ties a season low. The last team to limit the Chap offense to this feat was St. Edward's in a 0-0 draw earlier this season (Sept. 14).
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Sabrina Cone opened up the Hilltopper's scoring efforts with a goal 4:59 into the match on an assist from India Wentz.
• Brennan Flynn struck again for SEU in the 75
th minute with an unassisted goal.
• Madison Tumicki capped St. Edward's offensive performance with a finish at the 86:37 mark after a corner kick flew over the box and was knocked back in for Tumicki to finish from close range.
GAME NOTES
• The Lady Chaps are now on the bubble of the Heartland Conference Tournament with 19 conference points. With two matches remaining in the regular season, one of which is against a fourth place Newman, a win over the Jets will be crucial for the LCU women to hop into a playoff spot before the end of the regular season schedule.
• The 3-0 result marks the second consecutive scoreless performance for Lubbock Christian and the first back to back shutout losses in a season since a pair of 2-0 losses to St. Edward's (10/25/15) and West Texas A&M (10/28/15) in the 2015 season.
• LCU finished out their Heartland Conference road schedule with a 3-4-0 record.
• Cone's goal for St. Edward's marks the second straight match that the Lady Chaparral defense has allowed a goal within the opening five minutes of play.
• Lubbock Christian now stands 0-7-1 against the Hilltoppers with four of those losses coming by way of shutout.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
5: LCU finished road portion of their Heartland schedule with a 5-5-0 record. Their five losses mark the most since the 2015 season's 1-6-1 away record.
UP NEXT
Lubbock Christian will now return home for a pair of games at LCU Soccer Field beginning with a conference bout against a second place Rogers State program. The Lady Chaps defeated the Hillcats 1-0 earlier this season in Claremore, Okla. LCU holds a 6-2-1 series advantage over RSU. The have also won the past six consecutive matches against Rogers State dating back to the 2013 season. The meeting between the squads will be the fifth contest in which the Lady Chaps will serve as the home team.
