Chaps Fall in Road Finale at Eastern New Mexico

GAME INFORMATION

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
• Lubbock Christian University concluded the road portion of their 2017 season with a 2-0 loss against Eastern New Mexico University Thursday evening in Portales, N.M.
• LCU outshot the Greyhounds 14-7 for the game but were unable to find the net.
• Freshman keeper Diego Goiabeira made his sixth appearance and fifth start of the season, logging two saves in the effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• ENMU's Christopher Mesquita broke open the Greyhound's scoring early on in the match with a goal at the 2:12 mark. Chivasiay Gallagher found Mesquita on a through ball for the assist.
• Mesquita once again found the net against Goiabeira in the 90th minute on a breakaway attempt for an unassisted goal.

GAME NOTES
• Lubbock Christian now stands 1-4-0 against Heartland Conference West Division rivals this season.
Richie Vaca-Cordova led the Chaparrals with three shots in total and two shots on goal for the night.
• Following the loss, LCU falls to 1-6-2 overall on the road and 1-4-2 in Heartland Conference road matches this season.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
3: The Chaps have now lost three consecutive matches without logging a goal. This marks the first time in program history that LCU has failed to score in three straight contests within a single season.

UP NEXT
The Chaps will return home for their 2017 finale against Texas – Permian Basin Saturday, Oct. 28. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. against the Falcons at LCU Soccer Field. The contest will also serve as senior day for the Chaparrals with their recognition ceremony beginning 30 minutes prior to game time. LCU holds a 6-2-1 all-time series advantage over the Falcons. UTPB took the prior meeting, however, in a 1-0 win over the Chaps in Odessa, Texas (Oct. 21).
