Lady Chaps Soar High Over Eagles in 3-0 Win

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
• Lubbock Christian University created a two-game winning streak Saturday afternoon following a 3-0 win over Oklahoma Christian at LCU Soccer Field. 
• The Lady Chaps buried the Eagles on both ends of the field marking 21 total shots while holding OC's offense to one shot for the day.
• All three of the Lubbock Christian goals came along with assists. Three different LCU women logged goals for the afternoon with two coming in the second half.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Freshman Allison Scott marked the first goal of the match with a header at the 39:00 mark. Scott was served the ball on a corner kick taken by Cara Hunt.
Adrienne Almodova struck next for LCU with a rocket from just outside the top of the 18-yard box in the 73rd minute. Almodova was assisted by freshman Zaida Lopez on the play.
Hollie Windham put her stamp on the match seven minutes later with an 80th minute goal. Windham was assisted by Stephanie Renteria and Brittany Guthrie.
 
GAME NOTES
• The win over the Eagles gives the Lady Chap squad 13 points in conference standings and propels them into a tie for fourth place with Newman University.
Allison Scott's goal pushes her three for the season and a total of eight points in 12 appearances. Scott now has two game-winning goals in the 2017 campaign.
• Oklahoma Christian was unable to register a shot on goal throughout the entire game. LCU has now kept an opponent from recording a single shot on frame a total of six times in program history and five times in the Alex Denning era.
Hannah Wise tallied her seventh shutout of the year and second within a week.
• The Lady Chap win marks the second shutout of the season over the Eagles and the seventh all-time in the series.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
14: Lubbock Christian's offense overpowered the Eagle defense on the way to a season-high 14 shots on goal.

UP NEXT
The Lady Chaparrals will remain at home for a Heartland Conference matchup against Texas A&M International Oct. 12. Kickoff against the Dustdevils is slated for 4:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon. In their previous meeting earlier this season, the LCU women were on the winning end of an offensively charged 4-2 match. Lubbock Christian owns a perfect 6-0-0 record over TAMIU with five of their six victories coming in the form of a shutout.
