• Lubbock Christian University moved to a 2-4-0 overall record and a 1-1-0 record in Heartland Conference standings following a 1-0 win at Newman University Saturday afternoon.
• The Chaps totaled 10 shots on the day, seven of which were on target.

Parker O'Quinn recorded the second shutout of his Lubbock Christian career.

Conner Dean got on the board for the first time this season, giving the Chaps their first win in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Newman's Kieran Laking was given yellow cards in the 17
th and 27
th minutes resulting in a red card that sent him off and left the Jets playing the remainder of the game with 10 men.
• Dean struck in the 29
th minute on a pass into the 18-yard box from
Marcelo Pacheco. The finish marks the Chap's third goal of the year.
GAME NOTES
• Dean's goal marks the second of his career and his first game winning performance.
• Five of the Chap's six games this season have been decided by one goal. Both of their wins have come in 1-0 results.
• Following the result, LCU is now 2-2-1 all-time against Newman with their previous win coming in the 2013 season. In three of the series' five games, the road team has proved victorious. Further, only one of the meetings has been decided by a margin larger than one goal.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
1: O'Quinn provided a shutout while only being forced to make one save. The feat marks the sixth time in program history that an LCU keeper has shutout a team while only providing one save for the match.
UP NEXT
The Chaparrals will return home for their Heartland Conference home opener against St. Edward's University. The game will take place at LCU Soccer Field Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. St. Edward's leads the series with a 3-1-0 record over the Chaps. The Chaparrals won the first ever meeting, but the Hilltoppers have gone on to win the previous three matchups. In the most recent tilt, SEU downed the Chaps 3-0 (9/22/16) at Lewis Chen Field in Austin, Texas.
