• Lubbock Christian University men's soccer was unable to get the result in their season opener as they fell to No.16 Colorado Mesa University 1-0 Friday evening.
• Despite placing four shots on goal, the Chaparrals were unable convert and conceded a goal in the 29
th minute of play.
• There were 18 fouls and five yellow cards handed out between both squads.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Conner Dean each placed a shot on target for the Chaps.
• Freshman keeper
Diego Goiabeira was able to make four saves for the Chaparrals in his collegiate debut.
• CMU midfielder Moshe Perez put away a cross into the box in the 29
th minute for the game's lone goal.
GAME NOTES
• Aside from the starting 11, four other LCU players saw the field in the 2017 season opener. Goiabeira was LCU's sole freshman to log minutes.
• The 1-0 loss marks Lubbock Christian's first scoreless result in 380:00 minutes of play. The last game that the Chaps failed to get on the board was a 1-0 loss to West Texas A&M (10/20/2016).
• The meeting was the first all-time meeting between the two teams.
• With the loss, LCU fell to 3-9-2 all-time against nationally ranked programs.

5-3-0: Lubbock Christian now stands 5-3-0 all-time in season openers. All three of the Chaparrals losses have come on the road.

The Chaps will now look ahead to Sunday, where they will take on South Dakota School of Mines to close out the Doubletree Soccer Showcase in Grand Junction, Colo. The meeting will be the first ever matchup between the squads. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m. (central) at Colorado Mesa University's Walker Field.
