LCU HIGHLIGHTS
• Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaps rose to a 2-2-1 Heartland Conference record, 5-3-1 overall record, with a 4-2 win over Texas A&M International Saturday afternoon in Laredo, Texas.
• The Lady Chaps posted a season-high four assists and tied a season-high four goals on the day. Sophomore Haley Knesek led the LCU squad with two goals and one assist.
• Three of the Lady Chaparral goals came from the bench. Cara Hunt was Lubbock Christian's only starter to register a goal.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• LCU struck early as Hunt received a cross in the second minute from Racheal Eckert and finished out of the air on a header. Both Hunt and Eckert tabbed their first starts of the season.
• Texas A&M International's Cio Bargallo evened the game at one after running onto a pass from Michell Salinas and finishing in the 19th minute.
• Kate O' Gara took a corner in the 43rd minute that found Knesek who finished the header past the TAMIU keeper.
• Knesek struck again in the 65th minute on an assist from Stephanie Renteria. Knesek tucked her shot away inside the right post.
• Bargallo scored her second and final goal of the day in the 85th minute on an assist from Monica Castro.
Brittany Guthrie picked up the game's final goal on a rebounded pass from Knesek.

GAME NOTES
• Lubbock Christian's four goals marks their highest scoring performance since a 4-0 win over Texas – Permian Basin at the beginning the season.
• The Lady Chaps marked a season-high 12 points for the day. In total, LCU marked four goals and four assists. Knesek posted five points by herself.
• The game's six goals marks the highest scoring contest for LCU since a 4-3 loss to Newman University in Wichita, Kan. last season (10/29/16).
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
1:13: Cara Hunt's goal in 1:13 was Lubbock Christian's fastest goal since the 2014 season where Claudia Sanchez scored in 21 seconds against Rogers State (10/18/14).

UP NEXT
The Lady Chaps will continue their road trip with a conference showdown in Wichita, Kan. against Newman University. Kickoff is set for Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. on NU's Wilkins Field. LCU holds a 4-1-0 all-time record over the Jets and a 2-1-0 record on the road in the series. The Lubbock Christian squad has shutout Newman in all four of their victories.
