CHAPS FLIGHT DECK
• Lubbock Christian University opens up their Western Division Heartland Conference play Thursday hosting West Texas A&M University. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at Frenship Soccer Stadium.
• LCU has doubled their goals scored on the season in just one week. Junior midfielder
Louis Callaghan nabbed his first goal of the year against St. Edward's (9/21/17) and followed it up with a two-goal performance at home against Dallas Baptist (9/23/17).
• The Chaps stand 30-20-9 all-time at home and 14-15-6 at home since joining the Heartland Conference.
STORY LINES
• In the Chap's previous meeting with the Buffs, LCU produced a program-best 12 saves.
• Callaghan has made three appearances for the Chaparrals on the season, nabbing three goals. He is averaging one goal per game and is currently tied for third in the Heartland for goals scored in conference matches.
• 46.2% of Lubbock Christian's shot attempts have found the frame this season. Of 78 attempts, LCU has posted 36 shots on goal.
• All six of the Chaps goals this season have come along with assists.
Corey Hutchison leads the Chap squad with two assists, both of which came in a 2-1 win over Dallas Baptist (9/23/17).
• LCU is seeking back-to-back wins in contests for the first time in their 2017 campaign. All three of the Chap's wins have followed losses of a one-goal margin.
SCOUTING WTAMU
• As a team, West Texas A&M is averaging 2.43 goals per game, while holding opponents to a 1.29 mark. Callum Challinor has posted three goals on the season to lead the Buff roster.
• WT has tallied 66 fouls on the year for a 9.43 fouls per match average, a mark which leads the Heartland Conference for least team fouls committed.
• Alexander Vencel has produced 28 saves for a .757 save percentage, while allowing nine goals in the net for the Buffs. Vencel has logged 634:09 in seven starts.
• WTAMU is 4-3-0 overall this season and 2-2-0 in Heartland Conference standings. The Buffs hold a 2-1-0 away record, with both of the victories coming in non-conference matches.
• Head coach Butch Lauffer is in his 27
th season at the helm of the WT program. Lauffer has compiled a 308-143-33 record in his time with the Buffs.
SERIES HISTORY WITH WTAMU
West Texas A&M narrowly leads the series over the Chaparrals with a 3-2-0 advantage. LCU's two wins have been split with their first coming in Canyon, Texas by a 2-0 margin (11/16/14) and the second coming at LCU Soccer Field in 3-2 fashion (11/2/15). In the previous meeting, the Chaps were shutout for the first time in the series, a 1-0 double overtime match on LCU's home field (10/20/16).
