CHAPS FLIGHT DECK
• Lubbock Christian University's will gear up for a showdown with South Dakota School of Mines Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. at Colorado Mesa University's Walker Field in Grand Junction, Colo. The match will be LCU's final contest of the Doubletree Soccer Showcase.
• The Chaps are looking to rebound after suffering a 1-0 loss to tournament host Colorado Mesa University.
• In their season opener against CMU, The Chaparrals rattled off four shots on goal and five shots in total. LCU currently holds an 80% mark in the shots on goal category.
• The Chaparrals committed 11 fouls in Friday night's matchup. Seven of those fouls came in the second half of play.
STORY LINES
• LCU seeks to avoid an 0-2-0 start to the season for a second straight season. The 2016 campaign marks the only season in program history that Lubbock Christian dropped their first two contests.
• Sunday's game will serve as the third ever neutral site game for the Lubbock Christian program. The previous two were played in the 2014 season. The Chaparrals got on the score sheet once in each game and have managed a 1-1-0 record. A win on Sunday would allow the Chaps to jump back above a .500 record in neutral site contests.
• History is in favor of LCU following the shutout on Friday night. The Chaps have not been held scoreless in back-to-back matches since a 0-0 draw to Newman (9/17/16) and a 3-0 loss to St. Edward's (9/22/16) in the 2016 season.
SCOUTING SDSM
• The Hardrockers are coming off of a 0-0 draw with fellow Heartland Conference members Newman University Friday afternoon.
• SDSM closed out the 2016 season with a 2-14-1 record. Both of their wins came in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) matches.
• In their game against Newman, the Hardrockers recorded six shots for the afternoon. Two of those shots landed on target giving South Dakota School of Mines a 33.3% shots-on-goal mark.
• SDSM have a fair balance of experience on their 2017 roster. In total, South Dakota Mines have nine freshman and eight seniors listed.
• The Hardrockers averaged .94 goals per game after scoring 16 goals in 2016.
SERIES HISTORY WITH SDSMU
• The meeting with the Hardrockers will be the first in program history for the Lubbock Christian.
