Chaps Open Home Schedule Wednesday

LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN (0-2-0) vs. UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTHWEST (0-1-0)

CHAPS FLIGHT DECK
• Lubbock Christian University's will open up their 2017 home schedule Wednesday afternoon against University of the Southwest at 3 p.m. from LCU Soccer Field.
• This match will be LCU's first home contest since a 2-1 loss to Eastern New Mexico University (10/27/16).
• The Chaps head into the match with a 0-2-0 record and have averaged 11.5 shots per contest. Lubbock Christian also holds a 10-5 advantage in corner kicks taken in their first two games this season.
• The Chaparral offense is still looking for its first goal of the year following a pair of shutouts in their opening weekend of play.

STORY LINES
• Lubbock Christian heads into Wednesday's showdown with a 6-1-0 all-time record in home openers. Five of those wins have come over University of the Southwest.
• Of the program's seven home-openers, LCU has outscored opponents by a 22-10 margin. Of those 22 goals scored, 20 have come against USW.
• The Chaps are itching for a home victory to snap a 0-2-1 record in their last three home contests. The Chaparral's last win at LCU Soccer Field came in a 1-0 win over Oklahoma Christian (10/8/16).

SCOUTING USW
• USW finished their 2016 campaign with a 10-5-1 overall record and a 6-0-1 record in conference play. The Mustangs narrowly missed out on a postseason bid to the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Tournament after being on the wrong end of a tiebreaker.
• University of the Southwest is 0-1-0 in the 2017 season after falling 3-2 at Bacone College (8/31/17). Although USW managed to come from behind and tie the game up on two occasions, a late goal by BC proved to be the game's deciding factor.
• Mustang head coach Robert Ssejjemba is now in his fourth season at the helm of the USW program. In his time there, he has led the Mustangs to their second ever-postseason appearance, which culminated in a RRAC tournament championship debut in 2015.
• Sophomore Michael Boone returns for University of the Southwest after a 2016 campaign where he led the Mustangs with a team-high eight goals.
• Seven seniors are listed on the USW roster for the 2017 season.


SERIES HISTORY WITH USW
• This matchup will be the Chaps ninth meeting all-time with the Mustangs in a series where LCU holds a 6-1-1 advantage. Six of the games in the series have been played at home for Lubbock Christian and five of those contests have resulted in Chaparral victories. In their previous meeting, the Chaps outlasted the Mustangs in an offensively explosive 5-4 game.
