Lady Chaps Leave St. Mary's Rattled

GAME INFORMATION

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
- Three was the number for the afternoon as Lubbock Christian University cruised to their third consecutive victory following a 3-1 win on the road over St. Mary's University.
- LCU peppered the offensive third with goals from Haley Knesek, Allison Scott and Makenna Pate
- The Lady Chaparral defense limited the St. Mary's squad to two shots on goal for the afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Knesek struck in the 25thminute for Lubbock Christian finishing a through-ball from Scott. Knesek's left-footed strike found the net from the top of the box.
- Scott then made her way into the scoring column at the 53:24 mark. Hailey Phipps served up a free kick that found the head of Hollie Windham. Scott was then able to volley the pass from Windham, with her left foot, from six yards out.
- Pate closed out the Lady Chap scoring after running onto a through-ball from Knesek in the 79thminute. Her shot tucked inside the back post from the 12-yard range.
- Miranda Narvaez came up with St. Mary's lone goal of the day in the 88thminute.

GAME NOTES
- The Lady Chaps now find themselves in a tie for third-place with 18 points in Heartland Conference standings.
- LCU has moved up to a 7-7 overall record in addition to a 6-4 mark in conference play.
- Saturday's win closes out a four-game road trip. Prior to the month of October, Lubbock Christian held an 0-3 mark on the road. Following Saturday's victory, the Lady Chaps stand 3-4 away from home with one road game remaining.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
2: Defense has been a point of pride for the LCU squad as the back four allowed just two goals over their last four matches. The back line has also held their last four opponents to a combined 11 shots on goal.

UP NEXT
The Lady Chaparrals will now return home for a Heartland Conference showdown against first-place Dallas Baptist University Thursday, Oct. 18. Kickoff against the Patriots is set for 3 p.m. at LCU Soccer Field.
