CHAPS FLIGHT DECK
- Lubbock Christian University has hit the road for their final set of away games this season. To kick off this final trip, the Chaparrals have made it to Laredo, Texas to take on Texas A&M International. Kickoff against the Dustdevils is set for 7 p.m. at Dustdevil Soccer Field.
- LCU's defense has continued their staunch play accruing six shutouts throughout the year.
- With a 1.92 scoring average, the Chap offense has proven to be explosive with the ability to score from all over the pitch. To date, LCU has registered 25 goals from 11 different players.
STORY LINES
- The Chaps have moved their way up to the No. 7 position in the latest United Soccer Coaches South Central Regional poll.
- With a 3-1-1 record when playing away from home, Lubbock Christian will look to continue their success on the road.
- Climbing the Heartland Standings has been a constant battle for Lubbock Christian throughout the season. However, with four games remaining on their schedule, the Chaps find themselves in the Heartland's third-place position with 18 points.
SCOUTING TAMIU
- Texas A&M International enters the contest as the third-place squad in the Heartland's South Division behind St. Mary's and St. Edward's.
- After going 1-3 over their last four matches, Texas A&M International will be looking for a final regular-season push starting with the Chaps.
- Defense has slipped regular for the Dustdevils who are allowing two goals per game, on average, from opponents.
- Rafael Montabes has been the focal point of the TAMIU offense scoring six goals and dealing out one assist on the year. Montabes is firing off 3.09 shots per contest.
- Carlos Herrera has played and started in 12 matches this season registering a .629 save percentage with 39 saves on 132 shots faced.
SERIES HISTORY WITH TAMIU
Despite Texas A&M International taking the first meeting 2-1 (Oct. 14, 2013), the Chaps have since climbed to a 3-2-0 overall record in the all-time series. In their most recent matchup, TAMIU outlasted the Chaparrals in a 2-0 result at LCU Soccer Field. Lubbock Christian will no doubt be looking for revenge against the Dustdevils while also continuing a four-match unbeaten streak.
