Robertson's Double-Double Calms The Storm

Olivia Robertson's First Career Double-Double Comes In LCU's First Meeting Since 2012

LUBBOCK, Texas (November 16, 2018) – Olivia Robertson recorded her first career double-double with 15 points and a career-tying 10 rebounds to help lead No.3/10 Lubbock Christian University to a 65-40 victory over Southern Nazarene University Friday evening inside Rip Griffin Center.
 
The Lady Chaps and Crimson Storm exchanged the lead five times in the opening quarter of play, but LCU first had to overcome a 5-0 deficit after SNU jumped on the scoreboard first. LCU's Maddi Chitsey closed the first quarter with a layup to close the quarter with LCU leading 16-15. LCU outscored SNU 16-5 in the second quarter, with the breathing room mounting off an 11-0 run to provide LCU a 32-20 halftime lead. Kailin Davis led LCU with 10 points in the first half, with eight tallied in the second quarter.
 
LCU continued to extend on their lead in the second half. Madelyn Turner provided six points in the quarter and LCU extended their lead to 48-28 before heading into the fourth quarter with LCU ahead 48-33.
 
While SNU was shooting a miserable 11.1% (1-of-9) in the fourth quarter, the Lady Chaps continued to pull away. LCU was 7-of-12 in the quarter and Robertson clinched her double-double with six points and three rebounds in the quarter. LCU outscored SNU 17-7 in the frame and led as much as 65-35 (1:49 remaining in the contest).
 
LCU held SNU to a 27.7% (13/47) shooting mark, while going 46% (23/50) on their offensive end. The two teams combined for 37 turnovers, with 20 by LCU, but LCU was still able to outscore the Crimson Storm 15-11 in points off turnovers. The Lady Chaps, who had a 28-14 scoring advantage in the paint, received 10 points in the game from Davis, who joined Robertson in double figures for LCU. Robertson's 10 rebounds led the squad which had a 38-22 rebound advantage over SNU.
 
The Crimson Storm fell to 0-3. They were led by Adrienne Berry, who led the squad with 12 points.
 
TURNING POINT
The Crimson Storm went a span of 3:07 and 7:52 without a point (went a span of 9:46 without a field goal) from the second quarter to portions of the third quarter.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Southern Nazarene was held to 22 rebounds in the game. It is the lowest mark by a Lady Chaps opponent since Texas A&M International finished with 21 on Jan. 4, 2018, and the second lowest total since the start of the 2016-17 season.
 
NEXT UP
LCU moved to 4-0 with the win. They extended the nation's best active home win streak to 54 straight home wins. The Lady Chaps are back at it Saturday at 6 p.m. hosting Texas Permian Basin for the final day of play in the Arbor Hotels Classic.
