CHAPS FLIGHT DECK
- LCU made their Heartland Conference Tournament debut Tuesday night on the road at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas and pulled off a 2-1 upset over No.4-seed St. Mary's.
- The Chaps now arrive to Stang Park, the final site of the Heartland Conference Tournament, which is where the semifinals and championship game will take place.
- The winner of the game will advance to face either No.1-seed Midwestern State or No.4 Newman in the championship game Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wichita Falls, Texas.
STORY LINES
- Lubbock Christian ranks second in the Heartland Conference and 33
rd nationally in save percentage with a mark of .796 on the season. A vital statistic, as LCU has been out-shot in nine of their last 10 games played.
- LCU's win Tuesday placed them with a 1-0 all-time record in Heartland Conference Tournament play. The Chaps are 3-2-0 all-time in conference tournament contests, with 2-2-0 record brought from their play in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Prior to this season, LCU had not played a conference postseason match since Nov. 3, 2012.
- LCU ranks second in the Heartland Conference in fewest yellow cards with 25 on the season.

Braxton Thorne ranks second in the Heartland Conference in shutouts (6, tied for 25
th nationally), but he leads the conference in goalie minutes played (1708:01, fourth nationally) and is 31
st nationally in save percentage with a mark that is second in the Heartland Conference (.796).
- Lubbock Christian was recognized with three All-Conference selections, as
Ivan Muanze-Bengono (Second Team),
Fernando Flores (Third Team) and
Louis Callaghan (Third Team) received postseason honors.
SCOUTING WT
- West Texas A&M's Julio Vargas (13) and Lucca Lima (10) have combined for 23 goals this season. Vargas ranks 24
th nationally and the two are in the top-three in the conference in goals.
- The Buffs carry a No.14 national ranking. LCU is 1-1 against ranked opponents this season and the win came against then-No.23 ranked West Texas A&M (Oct.4), which marked LCU head coach
Paul Gilbert's first win over a ranked team.
- WT co-leads the nation in goals (62) with Fort Hays State.
- Goalkeeper Alex Vencel ranks fifth in the nation in save percentage with a mark of .864.
- WT ended up with seven players (five First Team members) claiming All-Conference honors. A total package that has WT ranking fifth nationally in scoring offense (3.4 per game) and eighth nationally in GAA (0.60) to rank in the top-10 both offensively and defensively.
SERIES HISTORY WITH WT
The meeting marks the third of the season and the 10th all-time between the programs. West Texas A&M holds a 5-4-0 advantage in the rivalry. LCU swept the regular season series, winning 2-0 in Lubbock (Sept. 13) and 2-1 in overtime in Canyon (Oct. 4). LCU's four goals in the season series have come from four different individuals, with
Emilio Marti notching the overtime goal in the Oct.4 meeting.
