CLAREMORE, Okla. (April 19, 2018) – The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals were swept by Rogers State 9-2 and 2-0 Thursday at Diamond Sports Complex.
EARLY
The Lady Chaps (27-13, 16-10) jumped to an early lead when the second batter of the game,
Lindzi Clemmer, hit a home run over the left field fence. The Hillcats (32-15, 13-9) answered with three runs in the second inning. Rogers State added another run in the third inning and three more in the fourth to take a 7-1 lead. A double by
Megan Darling in the fifth inning drove in
Courtney Medina for LCU's only other run. Taylor Santistevan's two-run home run in the fifth inning plated two insurance runs for Rogers State.
IN THE CIRCLE
Monique Francois (20-4) started in the circle for the Lady Chaps, throwing two innings and giving up four runs on four hits to suffer her fourth loss of the year.
Clarissa Martinez pitched the final four innings in relief, allowing five runs off seven hits. Alex Brake (13-5) pitched all seven innings for Rogers State. She allowed two runs off four hits while striking out eight Lady Chaps to notch her 13
th victory of the season.
SCORELESS
The Lady Chaps were held scoreless in the second game, with the Hillcats scoring a run in the second inning on a Sierra Skaggs home run and another run in the fifth inning with Katy Taylor scoring off the bat of Allie McFetridge. The result marked the fourth time LCU has suffered a shutout loss this season
IN THE CIRCLE
Taylor Hinojos (1-4) was the starter in game two for Lubbock Christian, pitching the complete game and allowing two runs off seven hits. She suffered her fourth loss of 2018. Andrea Morales (10-6) started game two in the circle for the Hillcats, holding the Lady Chaps scoreless and to six hits in 6.2 innings for her 10
th victory of the season. Game one starter, Brake, pitched 0.1 innings in relief to close out the game.

The Lady Chaps and Rogers State will face off Friday at Diamond Sports Complex for the final game of the series, with the first pitch set for noon.
